The Philippon Jade occurrence is located about 65 kilometres east-southeast of the community of Dease Lake.

The showing is underlain by upper Mississippian to Permian ultramafic rocks of the Cache Creek Complex consisting of peridotite, dunite and pyroxenite which are generally serpentinized.

Pods of nephrite jade are commonly found in these ultramafic rocks. One such locality, plotted on Geological Survey of Canada Open File map 2779, occurs on a ridge overlooking the headwaters of Philippon Creek. The characteristics of these pods are not documented.
